Hey, everyone calls me Marlow, and knows me to be a huge hippie who doesn’t have a phone, is very hard to get a hold of but who absolutely loves to travel and explore the world to meet new people and experience jaw droppingly fun activities that Christian loves to record.
Jazokas
Hey! My name is Jake Jazokas, I have a passion for software development and have been programming professionally since I was 13 and I loved the idea and challenge of making a universal travel app to show people cool destinations around the world.
How it All Started
Imagine standing amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of Iceland. On one side, a monstrous glacier, while on the other, a colossal volcano. And right ahead, an off-road adventure on the legendary F roads, winding through the heart of the inner country of Iceland.
Here we were, Christian and Marlow, in the heart of Iceland, with 5 popped tires, including the spares that had given in during the last few hours. Stranded in a place we shouldn’t have ventured with a car that wasn’t meant for such rugged terrain, we found ourselves waiting for 14 hours, contemplating our journey.
Our style of travel was an expedition for the extraordinary, not the usual tourist spots, but those hidden gems known only to locals. These were the places that made us question the world we live in and how we can make a difference in it. People often asked us how we discovered these incredible spots, and that’s when the idea sparked in our minds.
We wanted to share the life-changing experiences we had encountered by creating a curated map of these extraordinary locations. This map would be a compass for wanderers seeking the road less traveled, connecting them with the most breathtaking destinations. The idea was to blend our own discoveries with the wisdom of fellow travelers, crafting a travel guide that could inspire and enlighten.
Thus, the concept of our curated map was born—a single canvas where adventurers could plan their journeys without being overwhelmed by the internet’s excess information. We wanted to give travelers the freedom to add their own discoveries and experiences, fostering a community of like-minded explorers.
Together, we shared a deep appreciation for what travel truly means. In the words of Rolff Potts, “Travels are not an escape from your real life but a discovery of your real life.” Our mission is to uncover the authenticity of every destination, to unveil the essence of life’s wonders, and to inspire others to do the same.
